The FoodTech Challenge aims to identify the next generation of technological breakthroughs that have the potential to alter food and traditional agriculture methods in a cost-effective and long-term manner. The competition, which is aimed at early-stage start-ups ranging from international university-based research teams to individual entrepreneurs and small businesses, is looking for innovations in two key areas: ‘food production’ to address food availability and abundance and explore ‘next gen’, nutrient-rich alternatives, and ‘food loss and waste’ to ensure sustainability across the food supply chain and the planet in general.
All contestants must be at least 18 years old.
Your startup must meet the following criteria to be considered for participation:
- Address ‘Food Production’ or ‘Food Loss and Waste’ segments of the value chain
- Have not yet pursued a Series-A funding round
- Have a minimum viable product that can be used.
- Have been in operation for less than 5 years
- Have no more than 25 employees
Note: Start-ups may also be considered eligible to apply on a case-by-case basis.
Cash rewards, incentive schemes, start-up acceleration, and R&D support make up the overall prize pool, which is valued at US $2 million.
