About The Accelerate(HER) fund sponsored by Tiger Global Impact Ventures
Technology startups play a pivotal role in reinventing the world and addressing some of our greatest challenges by driving innovative solutions forward. As such we need, technology that is designed by diverse leaders so that it can better serve diverse users. But we know that there is a gap in start-ups founded by diverse teams. These grants are meant to support women entrepreneurs who are building breakthrough technologies or tech-enabled companies.
Startup funding has surged in recent years, but the numbers of non-binary and women founders have not increased at the same pace. Last year, companies founded solely by women garnered only 2% of the total capital invested in venture-backed startups in the U.S. Moreover, the vast majority of U.S. business owners and entrepreneurs today cannot access formal financing. Entrepreneurs are often encouraged to raise a “friends and family” round to help bolster their company’s early days. But this concept comes with inherent privilege and bias baked in, resulting in women, BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ entrepreneurs being less likely to successfully secure this kind of funding and perpetuating systemic barriers to growth and equity.
In partnership with Hello Alice and the Global Entreprenuership Network, Tiger Global Impact Ventures has launched The Accelerate(HER) Fund, a $1,000,000 commitment to increase access and accelerate entrepreneurship for women founders.Apply now
